Worcester Warriors confirm takeover led by new owners Atlas

Worcester Warriors confirm that Atlas have been appointed as the club’s new owners… as the consortium led by ex-chief executive Jim O’Toole and James Sandford prepare to take charge of the former Premiership club

Worcester Warriors have been purchased by Jim O’Toole and James Sandford’s Atlas consortium.

The club confirmed in a statement that O’Toole – who was previously the chief executive of the club – and Sanford’s bid had been accepted by administrators Begbies Traynor. 

The club had been suspended and removed from the Premiership earlier this season after entering administration and triggering a financial crisis in English rugby.

‘We can confirm that contracts have been exchanged with Atlas,’ said Julie Palmer, partner at Begbies Traynor.

‘Following a complex process, we are now able to progress the sale of Worcester Warriors and associated assets to Atlas Worcester Warriors Rugby Football Club Limited.’

‘We are delighted to see that there is a clear plan in place to deliver both rugby and many other exciting community-focused initiatives to Sixways befitting the fabulous facilities and which will entertain the extensive support base.
