Tense ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Moment As Contestant Argues With Pat Sajak That Puzzle Wasn’t Accurately Categorized

A Wheel of Fortune contestant showed everybody that he’s a “real one” after arguing with Pat Sajak about accurate puzzle categorization when he failed to solve his puzzle.

Last Thursday (Jan. 26), Ben from California competed in the bonus round of the popular game show. He was guessing in the “Fun and Games” category and didn’t get the correct answer, which was, “taking a jog.”

Ben guessed, “Taunt a chuck guy,” and continued to change the second-to-last word. He went on to list, “chance guy… wacky guy…” none of which were the correct answer.

After the buzzer went off, Sajak cut in with a hesitant, “Oh, that was so… unclose. You just didn’t have the letters.” But the contestant wasn’t going to let that slide. “Well, see, I just don’t consider jogging fun and games,” Ben corrected the long-time host before flashing a thumbs up to the audience.

His snide comment gathered the support of many and fans are now taking to social media to side with the young contestant. “Finally! A contestant finally speaks out about the answers not matching the category! The kid was great,” commented a viewer on Wheel of Fortune’s Instagram post.

“Nobody considers that fun and games that’s fitness, come on,” wrote another.

Twitter also blew up with comments about Ben’s response, despite the video having not been promoted on the show’s account. “Shout out to the Wheel of Fortune contestant who said he didn’t get the final puzzle because he doesn’t consider jogging to be fun and games,” wrote a fan, adding, “I’m with him.” Another person chimed in with “The guy on #WheelOfFortune tonight was hilarious. I too do not consider jogging to be fun and games.”

Ben later appeared on the Wheel of Fortune subreddit and opened the ground for questions, which he said he’ll answer on his podcast 4th Time’s the Charm. When someone told him that they loved his comment to Sajak, Ben responded, “Haha thank you! I just kinda said it in a fun way and didn’t expect people to respond to it the way they have.”

The post, which has garnered 33 comments in less than 24 hours, teased his answers to some of the questions – which he said he’ll go into more detail about on his podcast. When asked about his experience with Vanna White and Sajak, he said, “…short answer is Vanna is awesome and Pat doesn’t stick around a lot. But there is a stunt Pat when he’s not there!”
