Michelle Williams takes a walk in New York with son Hart, two, after Oscar nod for The Fabelmans

She earned her fifth Academy Award nomination earlier in the day for Best Actress for Steven Spielberg’s autobiographical film The Fabelmans.

But Michelle Williams celebrated the honor in low-key fashion as she took a stroll in New York City.

The 42-year-old film and television star was spotted bundled up in the Big Apple as she took her adorable son Hart, two, for a walk.

Her honor happened to arrive just two days after the anniversary of the death of her late partner Heath Ledger, with whom she shared her 17-year-old daughter Matilda.

Michele looked effortlessly elegant in her winter attire with a thin beige double-breasted overcoat that nearly reached down to her ankles.

She wore an all-black outfit underneath, including black slacks, and she stood tall in a sleek set of black leather boots.

The Manchester By The Sea actress wrapped a thick black tasseled scarf around her throat, and she styled her blond hair in a chic bob that was a more modern update on the hairdo she wore for The Fabelmans.

Little Hart looked cute in a puffy navy down coat, which he wore with gray sweatpants and black Ugg boots.

The adorable boy sported a shock of curly blond hair, and he alternated between walking by his mother’s side on his own and holding her hand.

Michelle also carried an aquamarine sippy cup for the little boy.

She shares her son with her husband, the theatre director Thomas Kail. The lovebirds got engaged in 2019, following their collaboration on the FX miniseries Fosse/Verdon.

They tied the knot in 2020, and Michelle gave birth to Hart that year, though it wasn’t until May of last year that she finally revealed his name.

She gave birth at the height of the still ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and she said Hart’s birth was ‘a reminder that life goes on,’ according to an interview with Variety from May 2022.

‘The world we brought a baby into is not the world we thought we were bringing a baby into, but the baby is ignorant of that. He experiences the unmitigated joy of discovery and the happiness of a loving home,’ she said.

‘There’s nothing that makes you committed to a better world than raising a great kid,’ Williams added. ‘It’s the ultimate creative act.’

In September of last year, she was seen looking visibly pregnant in public, and DailyMail.com published photos in late October of the actress stepping out with her husband and their new baby for the first time after giving birth.

So far, the actress has kept details about her newest child, including their name, out of the public view.

Michelle’s nomination for Best Actress arrived two days after the 15th anniversary of her ex Heath Ledger’s death on January 22 at just 28.

The couple became an item in 2004 after starring together in Brokeback Mountain, and they welcomed daughter Matilda in October of 2005.

But the couple split up in 2007, and Ledger was discovered unconscious in his bed on January 22, 2008.

Attempts to perform CPR after he stopped breathing were unsuccessful, and he was declared dead shortly after paramedics arrived. It was subsequently determined that Ledger had died of an accidental overdose.

He was later honored with a posthumous Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his influential portrayal of the Joker in the Batman film The Dark Knight.

After Michelle’s Oscar nomination on Tuesday, her Dawson’s Creek costars Busy Philipps and Joshua Jackson congratulated her, though Katie Holmes was curiously absent from the well-wishes.

The new nominee stars as a version of Spielberg’s mother, who helped to foster his love of cinema and filmmaking beginning when he was just a child.

But The Fabelmans also presents the dissolution of his parents’ marriage, as Michelle’s character begins an affair with the best friend (Seth Rogen) of her husband (Paul Dano).

Busy, 43, who played Audrey Liddell in Dawson’s Creek, and Joshua, 44, who portrayed Pacey Witter, lauded Williams — who played Jen Lindley — for her Best Actress nod, but Holmes, who was said to be ‘not close’ to the star, did not send a message.

Busy, who is best friends with Michelle, wrote on Instagram alongside a throwback snap of the star: ‘BRB- I’m just gonna go back in time and tell this kid that she’s going to have 5 OSCAR NOMINATIONS in the next 20 years.

‘And a BEAUTIFUL family. And be surrounded by love. (And GORGEOUS CLOTHES) But tbh- that’s probably along the lines of what I was saying to her then.’

‘I love you MW. Proud of you forever for building the life and career you dreamed of, even though the absolute overwhelming grief of being human had you wondering if you could at times.

‘But then you would dig deep and try again. It’s one of my favorite things about you. You have never NEVER stopped trying.

‘A new way, a new recipe, a new parenting style, a new author, a new approach to work, a new love, a new role…but always the same loving brilliant gentle sensitive funny wild thoughtful beautiful beautiful BEAUTIFUL you.’

Joshua reshared Busy’s post and wrote: ‘5 Academy Award Nominations!!! Holy Moses. I don’t know but I imagine that this was taken in some dingy watering hole when we were all kids. What an amazing journey you have been on. Congratulations!’

Michelle will face off against  Cate Blanchett for Tár, Ana de Armas for Blonde, Andrea Riseborough for To Leslie and  Michelle Yeoh for Everything Everywhere All At Once.

The posts come five years after Busy dished on the Dawson’s Creek cast in her memoir This Will Only Hurt A Little.

‘Katie was very sweet, but we didn’t spend that much time together. I knew she worked out a lot.’ Busy writes.

She also noted that Katie (Joey Potter) and Michelle didn’t seem close, neither did Joshua and James Van Der Beek (Dawson Leery),

‘She didn’t seem to like to drink very much, and while I knew she’d sneak a cigarette every once in a while, she wasn’t really like a hang-out-and-smoke kind of girl.’

Busy recalls going to Katie’s house a few times and looking at her arts and crafts, something she was also into, but ‘had a hard time really connecting with her’.

‘She’d been going out with Chris Klein for a while, and he came out to Wilmington and spent a good deal of time there, so she was mostly off with him.’ she writes.

Busy explains that she knew as soon as she walked onto the set of the teen drama that it was a different situation to Freaks And Geeks where ‘everyone hung out all the time’.

‘Maybe that was how it had been when the show first started, but by the fifth season, when I showed up, the main cast didn’t really hang out together that much and they obviously had some fairly intense dynamics going on.’ Busy writes.

Dawson’s Creek ran for six seasons from 1998 to 2003 and was a huge hit for WB.

But Busy recalled an ungrateful comment from James Van Der Beek that took her aback.

‘One day, the whole cast was sitting around a table filming the Thanksgiving episode, and James looked at me and said, “See? You got lucky. Your show was canceled after the first season,”‘

‘I was so shocked by his complete lack of perspective, I was speechless. I mean. YOU ALL are the lucky ones, here on SEASON FIVE of your HIT TV SHOW. Your LIVES were changed.’
