Over on the women’s side of the draw, there were wins for Aryna Sabalenka, Linda Fruhvirtova, Zhang Shuai, Belinda Bencic, Karolina Pliskova and Donna Vekic as Elise Mertens, Marketa Vondrousova, Katie Volynets, Camila Giorgi, Varvara Gracheva and Nuria Parrizas-Diaz all dropped out.
