Gareth Southgate has vowed to join the managers dad-dancing at the World Cup – but only if England lift the trophy. Brazil head coach Tite has been the topic of much discussion in Qatar after he joined his players in their elaborate goal celebrations.
And Dutch coach Louis Van Gaal may have been criticised for his negative tactics at the tournament, but he has been showing his fancy footwork as the players return to their hotel after matches by dancing along the line of celebrating fans taking selfies.
Win or lose against France this evening (Saturday), Southgate describes the chances of also busting a few moves as “unlikely!” But if England win at the Al Bayt Stadium and go all the way to win the final next Sunday, there will be no stopping him.
“If we win it? Oh, that might be different!” he said. “I am quite happy to embarrass myself like anybody else at that point. But not beforehand.”
Roy Keane led the criticism of Brazil’s ‘pigeon dance’ during the 4-1 win over South Korea only for Tite – who was involved right in the middle of things – to defend the South American culture.

“I love watching them because they are brilliant at football, but not when they are dancing, or the manager starts dancing, it’s not okay. It’s not respectful. Respect your team-mates and your opposition. A manager doing a dance on the sideline, you [Micah Richards] think that’s okay?
“I don’t get how a manager can dance when the game is still going ahead, he’s got an opposition manager ten yards away from him, you’ve got to watch that. The game is about respect. Dance afterwards in the dressing room or the nightclub, that’s not a problem.
“But why is it okay for Brazil to do it during the game? If everyone has a dance after a goal, the games will be going on for three days. Do you know what they should start doing, when coaches do their pro licence, show the managers how to do a little dance on the sideline, forget tactics!”
