England hold talks with Scott Robertson over succeeding Eddie Jones after the 2023 World Cup

EXCLUSIVE: England are holding talks with Scott Robertson over succeeding Eddie Jones after the 2023 World Cup… despite the Kiwi coach hoping to take over from Ian Foster and assume the All-Blacks hot seat

  • England have already discussed the head coach role with Scott Robertson
  • The 48-year-old Kiwi coach has already been in London for the past fortnight
  • However it is his preference to take over Ian Foster’s role with the All-Blacks

England have held talks with Kiwi Scott Robertson about taking over from Eddie Jones after the 2023 World Cup.

The Mail on Sunday understands Robertson, who has been in London for the past fortnight, is one of the preferred candidates on an RFU succession shortlist compiled by Nigel Redman.

Leicester’s Steve Borthwick has been the odds-on favourite, but the RFU recently backtracked on their intention to appoint an Englishman as head coach.

The All Blacks role is Robertson’s preferred job but Ian Foster, who saw his New Zealand side bow to late pressure as England rallied to secure a 25-25 draw at Twickenham on Saturday, is in contention to retain his post.
