It’s what everyone was waiting for. Fans and many comic book channels and sites have made it very clear that they have not be happy with Warner Bros’ treatment of the character of Superman, as well as the actor who has played him across three films, one director’s recut, and now one end credit scene. That headless Shazam! cameo doesn’t count. After some tantalizing leaks, confirmation came this weekend with the release of Black Adam, and now Cavill himself has made a special video message for fans. SCROLL DOWN TO WATCH.
No spoilers here about the film itself, but in the post credits scene, Superman emerges from swirling smoke and tells The Rock’s Black Adam, “We should talk.”
The Rock spoke for millions of fans recently when he confirmed his frustration over Warner Bros’ mishandling of Superman and Cavill: “What bugged us was you have a guy who is a great Superman and a beloved Superman, a guy who loves the mythology and knows the character so deeply, like Henry does Superman, and then on top of that, the most important thing is fans love him as Superman… He’s been on a sideline for five years, and no one’s talking about it!”
One fan wrote: “We all need to be collectively praising The Rock, he has fixed Warner Bros major f*** up.”
Well, now everybody is talking about it and Cavill has broken his silence to promise more is to come.
Cavill said: “I wanted to wait until the weekend was over before posting tis because I wanted to give yo all a chance to watch Black Adam. But now that plenty of you have, I wanted to make it official that I am back as Superman. The image you see on this post and what you saw in Black Adam is a very small taste of things to come.
“There’s a lot to be thankful for and I’ll get to that in time, but I wanted to thank you guys most of all, thank you for your support and thank you for your patience. I promise it will be rewarded.”
