Conor McGregor unleashes scathing attack on Islam Makhachev after Charles Oliveira win

Islam Makhachev became the new UFC lightweight champion on Saturday night at UFC 280 with a second-round submission victory over Charles Oliveira via arm-triangle choke. The Russian was commended by many for his brilliant display. However, Conor McGregor wasn’t impressed by Makhachev’s display.

In a series of now-deleted tweets, he wrote:“Nice fight. nice performance. I have built all the tools to beat this style now Vs b4. Experience Vs. Face breaking shots from clinch and baby brain batter shots from bottom. And the rest of my repertoire yous know. Steel left leg. Cannon back hand. Wrist control.

“The thought of shutting down this system of fighting with my own developed system is quite intriguing to me. Whoever of them against. It’s not personal. It’s a skill evaluation and a fight. Even thru generations. The imaafs, amateurs. A war of attrition. To the box.

“I have the system to hurt this style of fighting guys I am telling you. Bro is a s*** jocks. Fat mouth shut your mouth you done nothing tonight except go against fathers wishes and run. It’s not fathers plan completed yet, pal. You know. Your people know and they talk about you.”

McGregor has been out of action since breaking his left fibula and tibia during his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. The Irishman was expected to return to the Octagon in early 2023 but Dana White has since confirmed that it won’t be for at least another six months with Notorious needing to rejoin the USADA testing pool.

McGregor has not been subjected to a drugs test by UFC’s partner USADA since the third quarter of last year. As part of the company’s anti-doping policy, implemented in 2015, every contracted fighter is subject to random drug tests all year round.
