Unusual style Princess Kate shares with Lady Louise – Charlotte follows suit

Princess Kate, 40, and Lady Louise Windsor, 18, are both very fashionable royals in their own right, but share one unusual style similarity – equestrian fashion. This style has recently taken the online fashion world by storm.

Equestrian style fashion is characterised by tailored jackets, tweed blazers, knee-high boots, stretchy but slim-fit trousers, snaffle belts and roll-neck jumpers.

According to TikTok research by BooHoo, this particular fashion is currently extremely sought-after.

The hashtag #equestrianstyle has received an enormous 92.2million views across the world, with #equestrianfashion boating a similar 89.3 million.

Boohoo’s data revealed that the only styles beating equestrian fashion in terms of popularity are jumpsuits, puffer jackets, green dresses and pleated skirts.

As for what fashion trends the royals are following – or setting – this autumn and winter, two royal women are keen to hop on board the equestrian fashion train.

Lady Louise Windsor is a known lover of horses, just like other members of the Royal Family including Zara Tindall, Princess Anne and even the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Indeed, to Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral, Lady Louise was spotted wearing a necklace featuring a horse pendant.

The Queen’s lifelong love of horses reportedly began when she was just 4-years-old after being gifted a Shetland Pony.

Princess Charlotte similarly donned a horseshoe brooch for the funeral of her great-grandmother.

The late Prince Philip’s love of carriage driving has also been remembered through Lady Louise’s love of the sport.

Earlier this year, she showed off her talents at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, wearing an olive green riding jacket, dark green hat with feathers, a white roll-neck jumper and brown riding boots.

She also boasted a sentimental thematic brooch supposedly gifted to her by Prince Philip, of a riding whip and horseshoe.

In 2019, the young royal wore an olive green blazer with camel coloured suede lapels, and a camel and olive hat.

Underneath this she opted for a crisp, white shirt buttoned to the top.

Each year she pinned a white flower to the breast of her jacket.

Kate Middleton revealed she was allergic to horses back in 2009, but that doesn’t stop her attending the odd horse racing event or sampling equestrian fashion.

During a visit to Ireland in 2020, Kate was spotted walking with Prince William in a pair of brown knee-high boots – true equestrian style.

She paired this with a green jacket, nipped in at the waist with a chunky belt, and a cream patterned jumper underneath it.

Back in 2017, at a Farms for Children farm, Kate wore a light grey jacket, greenish-grey jeans and her trusty brown boots.

In the same year, the Princess opted for a red tailored jacket that was the epitome of equestrian fashion, featuring structured shoulders and what appears to be brass buttons on the bodice and cuffs.
