Monaco Grand Prix qualifying LIVE: Hamilton 'could be 12th' as Verstappen eyes pole

Lewis Hamilton will be hoping Mercedes can get over their car issues when Monaco Grand Prix qualifying gets underway at 3pm (BST). The Brit has struggled most of the season and is not expected to turn around his fortunes this weekend.

Mercedes team principal, who will miss qualifying because he has lost his voice, has admitted one of his drivers could finish 12th this weekend.

“We might take one on the nose here,” he told The Telegraph. “Finish 10th and 12th. But it’s not going to change my opinion that the car was quick in Barcelona and that is encouraging.”

Championship leader Max Verstappen will be vying for pole position to continue his momentum after winning the Spanish Grand Prix. But Ferrari star Charles Leclerc has looked blisteringly quick in practice and will be desperate to put on a show for his home fans.

Leclerc set the fastest lap time in the first two practice sessions on Friday but he was beaten by Red Bull’s Sergio Perez in FP3.
