Texas National Guard soldier has gone missing along Rio Grande
- A Texas National Guard soldier is now missing after trying to save a group of migrants crossing the border over the Rio Grande, it has been reported.
- The unidentified soldier entered the water near Eagle Pass, a border town 143 miles southwest of San Antonio. He was reportedly trying to save the migrants
- Earlier reports stated that the soldier had drowned in the river – however, the Texas National Guard told DailyMail.com Friday afternoon that he went missing
- It is not yet clear how many migrants the soldier was attempting to save. He has not yet been identified
A Texas National Guard soldier is now missing after trying to save a group of migrants crossing the border over the Rio Grande, it has been reported.
FOX reporter Bill Melugin reports that the soldier entered the water near Eagle Pass, a border town 143 miles southwest of San Antonio, and that he was trying to save the migrants at the time.

Earlier reports stated that the soldier had drowned in the river – however, the Texas National Guard told DailyMail.com Friday afternoon that he went missing during a mission-related incident.
It is not yet clear how many migrants the soldier was attempting to save when he dove into the river – a common crossing point for migrants entering the country from Mexico. He has yet to be identified.
The rescue attempt comes as the Biden Administration continues to struggle with the US escalating border crisis, which has seen a record 221,303 migrants apprehended by border officials last month – 55,409 more than the month prior.
The number eclipsed a previous record set in July 2021, with CBP apprehending 213,593 migrants that month alone.
