Australian Grand Prix LIVE: Lewis Hamilton taking risk as Verstappen starts behind Leclerc

Hello and welcome to Express Sport’s live coverage of the Australian Grand Prix as F1 finally returns to the streets of Melbourne after a two-year absence.

Pole-sitter Charles Leclerc will be looking to win his second race of the new year by keeping the likes of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez at bay, while Lewis Hamilton will be desperate to improve on his 10th-placed finish at last month’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix by challenging for a spot on the podium over the course of today’s 58-lap event.

However, it seems as though Mercedes could once again struggle to keep up with their Constructors’ Championship rivals after only managing to put their cars in fifth and sixth on the grid.

We’re just one hour away from lights out in Melbourne and will be providing live updates throughout the day’s running, so grab a coffee and stay tuned!
