Lorient recorded an astonishing comeback from two goals down against Saint-Etienne to triumph 6-2 and take a big step towards securing top flight safety.

Denis Bouanga and Arnaud Nordin looked to have put Saint-Etienne on the path to climbing out of the bottom three when they fired the visitors into a 2-0 lead inside just 22 minutes.

But Terem Moffi and Ibrahima Kone netted a quick two goals before half-time, before the hosts scored four times in the last half-hour in an incredible turnaround.

Enzo Le Fee put Christophe Pelissier’s side in front just after the hour mark before Kone struck again, with Moffi and substitute Quentin Boisgard scoring inside the last three minutes to allow the hosts to pull four points clear of their opponents who remain inside the relegation zone.

With his team imploding, Yvan Neyou Noupa was also sent off for the visitors while trailing 4-2 six minutes after coming off the bench.
