One Newcastle die-hard was filmed trying to put Crichton off the kick by offering him $50 if he missed.

‘Don’t miss it, don’t miss it. I’ve got $50, make a bet?’ he heckled from the sideline.

His mate chimed in with: ‘We all know he’s going to kick it.’

‘Nah, he’s going to miss it for sure,’ the Newcastle fan continued.

‘Take your time, don’t rush don’t miss it. I’m counting on you.

‘You going to do the two step, or three into it? You’ve got to kick it somehow.

‘Hook it, hook it, hook it!’

Crichton ultimately missed the conversion attempt with the heckler saying: ‘You should have put a bet on it.’

Crichton took the incident in good spirits and said: ‘Wait there, wait there after the game.’

But the centre had the last laugh.

When he nailed the conversion would put the Panthers ahead 38-20 he found the man in the crowd and told him: ‘You talk too much.’

The Knights’ unbeaten start to the season was broken in the loss to the Panthers, but they bravely remained in the hunt for most of the match despite losing Mitch Barnett to a send-off early in the game.

The forward has been referred directly to the judiciary and is facing a lengthy suspension for his ugly hit on Panther Chris Smith off the ball.
