January 6 committee now SUBPOENAS Don Jr's fiancée Kimberly Guilfoyle

The House committee on January 6 subpoenaed Donald Trump Jr.’s fiancée Kimberly Guilfoyle Thursday after she abruptly ended an interview with committee members last week.

A letter to Guilfoyle said she must sit for a deposition on March 15 and deliver requested documents to the committee by March 11.

‘Guilfoyle met with Donald Trump inside the White House, spoke at the rally that took place before the riot on January 6th, and apparently played a key role organizing and raising funds for that event,’ January 6 Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson said.

‘She also apparently communicated with others about the decision by the then-President about who was and was not allowed to speak at the Ellipse rally, including concerns raised about him sharing the stage with individuals including Ali Alexander, Alex Jones, and Roger Stone,’ a tweet from the committee announcing the subpoena said.

Alexander and Jones are far-right figures who’ve pushed conspiracy theories, while Stone is a longtime political adviser to Trump, who was pardoned by the then president after being charged with lying to Congress as part of the Mueller probe.

Guilfoyle was captured on video backstage at the Stop the Steal rally on January 6 2021, dancing to the ’80s pop song Gloria by the late singer Laura Branigan.

The song is consistently played at Trump rallies and events.

She and Donald Trump Jr. appeared onstage at the Ellipse rally together – hours before the MAGA mob stormed the U.S. Capitol Building.

On Friday, Guilfoyle ended questioning from the January 6 committee after she discovered Democratic lawmakers were on the call.

‘Because Ms. Guilfoyle backed out of her original commitment to provide a voluntary interview, we are issuing today’s subpoena that will compel her to testify,’ the committee said Thursday. ‘We expect her to comply with the law and cooperate.’

In a statement she shared on Twitter, Guilfoyle’s lawyer Joseph Tacopina said the interview had been ‘hijacked.’

‘However, upon Guilfoyle’s attendance, the committee revealed its untrustworthiness, as members notorious for leaking information appeared,’ Tacopina said.

‘Then, while counsel briefly halted the meeting to address the matter, our concerns about the presence of the committee’s members were validated, as the committee within less than two minutes leaked news of the break to the media, as Chairman [Bennie] Thompson did only a month earlier when revealing to the press that our client’s phone records had been confidentially subpoenaed,’ the lawyer continued.

When counsel was told of the leak, Tacopina said, ‘they too were shocked and appalled.’

‘It is clear that Adam Schiff and multiple other members hijacked the interview in a brazen attempt to publicize an obviously baseless investigation,’ Guilfoyle’s lawyer said.

Tacopina said the actions of committee members make it ‘abundantly clrear to us that their only real interest was to sandbag our client and use today’s interview as a political weapon against President Trump and those who support him.’

Sources told CBS News that problems on the call began when Guilfoyle realized California Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and a key figure in Trump’s first impeachment, and Maryland Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin, a key figure in Trump’s second impeachment, were participating.

Both Schiff and Raskin are members of the January 6 House select committee.

Just two Republicans – Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger – sit on the committee, after GOP leadership on Capitol Hill tanked a bill to create a bipartisan 9/11-style commission to investigate the Capitol attack.

On Friday, Guilfoyle said she expected only lawyers and committee staff to participate.

‘Kim balked and said this isn’t my understanding,’ one committee source told CBS, while another source said Guilfoyle was ‘outraged.’

Guilfoyle and Trump Jr.’s engagement was first reported in January.

She was previously married to California’s Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom.
