The UK is 'loyal' to one 'favourite' car brand nationally – how does your region compare?

Cars come in all shapes and sizes, and the reason you buy one could be anything from size to mileage. However, according to new research, there is one brand that Briton’s remain “loyal” to on a national scale.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, CarInsurance.ae’s spokesperson added: “Ford is the UK’s favourite car brand, which could be due to the long-lasting manufacturing plant in Dagenham producing many early Ford models, helping to build a familiar brand that customers are loyal to.”

Based on the findings, Volkswagen was determined to be “the second most popular” car brand overall.

The German brand came out on top in three regions of the UK, the North East, East Midlands, and South East.

  • North East – Volkswagen
  • North West – Ford
  • Yorkshire and The Humber – BMW
  • East Midlands – Volkswagen
  • West Midlands – Ford
  • East of England – Ford
  • London – Toyota
  • South East – Volkswagen
  • South west – Mercedes
  • Wales – Vauxhall
  • Scotland – Ford
  • Northern Ireland – Ford

The CarInsurance.ae expert noted that not many UK-owned car brands took the title as “favourite”.

They told Express.co.uk: “With the UK having such a rich motoring history with the likes of Austin, Land Rover, and Jaguar, it is interesting to see only one British car brand, Vauxhall, be the most popular only in Wales.”
