Ukraine crisis: Estonian and UK troops ‘not prepared’ for Russian attack – ‘It’s a threat’

Despite claims from the Kremlin that Russia has no plans on invading Ukraine, world leaders have become increasingly concerned about the escalating situation. French President Emmanuel Macron told reporters after speaking with the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, he was assured Russian forces would not ramp up the crisis.

However, reports from NATO member state Estonia reveal troops have become worried over a potential conflict.

British troops are among NATO forces training near the border with Russia as part of a defence mission alongside Estonian soldiers.

Estonian Sergeant Karlis Sootalu warned a Sky News reporter about the “threat” Russia imposes, while expressing his gratitude for NATO’s assistance.

He told the publication: “It’s a threat but we do our job like we always do.

However, on February 1, Boris Johnson said the number was “about 125,000”.

Units arriving from across Russia have been added to military personnel who are permanently stationed close to Ukraine’s border.

The soldiers have been taking part in military drills in Rostov, on Ukraine’s east.

Some newly arrived units have travelled nearly 4,000 miles from the Russian Far East.

Tanks and heavy armour are now also in place.
