Death in Paradise: Neville's exit 'sealed' as his past catches up with him?

Death In Paradise executive producer Tim Kay explained to Express.co.uk and other media the series will see DI Neville Parker (played by Ralf Little) facing his past. With fan speculation rife about Neville’s potential departure from the show, could this nod to his past be the way in which he leaves?

With hopes of a romance between Neville and Florence Cassell (Josephine Jobert) dashed, it seems Neville could be leaving behind the island of Saint Marie this season.

Other detectives on the series have typically done stints of around two seasons on the show, and for a while now viewers have been preparing for Neville’s exit.

So far, he hasn’t alluded to moving on, but if something from back home happens he could decide his time on the island is over.

Neville had been given the all-clear to make his exit and was gearing up to leave when he suddenly chose not to.

He’d initially told Florence: “I’m allowed to fly back to England. Finally, I’m going to get to go back home.”

However, he ended up turning up at Catherine Bordley’s (Elizabeth Bourgine) bar.

“Why are you not on an aeroplane?” asked Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington).

“I’m fed up with living life the way I have to, rather than the way I want to,” he explained.

Florence asked happily: “So you’re staying?” While the commissioner commented: “Oh please God, no.”

Reluctantly, the commissioner allowed Neville to remain in the job.

Years later though, could Neville come to the conclusion that he has got everything out of the job he could have?

His sister might bring with her news from home which means it may be time for Neville to board a plane back to England.

Death In Paradise continues on Friday at 9pm on BBC One.
