'Comedy gold' EastEnders star Tamzin Outhwaite says TV is losing out by ignoring menopause

The actress said: “You certainly don’t see women being funny, talking about menopause. There’s so much humour attached – my friends and I all have stories about brain fog and sweats and our sex drives.”

During lockdown, Tamzin and her boyfriend Tom Child – a documentary maker – filmed a drama about it called Dun Breedin’.

“It’s on YouTube, but we hope it’ll make it to TV,” she said.

The 51-year-old idolises fellow over-50s who remain so sparky – such as friend and Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, 50.

The mother-of-two added that the middle-age milestone was not something to be afraid of.

Speaking to magazine My Weekly, Tamzin said: “Turning 50 didn’t scare me.”

“I have friends like Amanda Holden who look great and are leading very youthful existences, and they are my idols.

“Women over 50 are not in rocking chairs knitting – 50 is the new 20.”

Londoner Tamzin lives with Tom, 30, who she met while he was a personal trainer.

She has two children with actor ex-husband Tom Ellis, 43.
