While fans still have a little while to wait, it looks like one of the biggest releases of 2022 will be arriving in good time for everyone.
According to a potential leak, PlayStation fans could be playing God of War Ragnarok in September 2022.
God of War on PS4 proved to be a solid hit among fans, providing a reboot of the Kratos storyline that pleased many.
Most fans hadn’t expected to see the God of War franchise revived, especially in the style and scope fans got to enjoy back in 2018.
And now firmly among the classics of the PlayStation 4, God of War Ragnarok looks set to score another massive hit using last-gen and PS5 tech.
A recent update from the team struck a positive note, revealing to fans: “While the last game built an enormous amount of trust and understanding between father and son, there is still a great deal of complexity in their interactions – especially after the revelation of Atreus’ Giant heritage and the hidden prophecy only Kratos saw.
“Atreus is desperately curious. Like most young people, he wants to understand who he is more than anything. In this case, he wants to understand who he could be.
“The mystery of Loki’s role in the upcoming conflict is something that Atreus cannot let go of. He wants to keep his family safe, but Atreus also doesn’t want to stand by and do nothing while conflict consumes the Nine Realms.
“Kratos, still bearing the knowledge of his past mistakes, wants to spare Atreus the bloody lessons he learned from his conflict with gods. He wants to keep his son safe, above all, and their confrontation with Baldur has vindicated the belief that only tragedy will come from further entanglements with the Aesir.
“Together, Kratos and Atreus will have to make a choice about which path they will take. Whatever they choose will define the fate of all those living in the Nine Realms as Ragnarök approaches.”
A new leaks shared this week from PlayStation Game Size, a Twitter account that monitors updates from the PlayStation Database, reveals that God of War Ragnarok could be ready to hit shelves on September 30, 2022.
As pointed out by the account, this could be a simple placeholder, but there is no reason to believe Sony would not use this date.
It correlates with older launch windows used by the company, and there is no reason why Ragnarok wouldn’t score huge sales away from October and November.
So far, Santa Monica Studios has only shared this information on when to expect its next game to arrive, telling fans:
“Your support for the series and our studio has been a pillar of strength for us during every moment of development on this title. Thank you to everyone in the God of War community for continuing to believe in this project and our team. We can’t wait to share more as we get closer to the 2022 release of God of War Ragnarök on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.”
