'Fantastic': Phil Spencer shares 'most desirable' places to live in post-pandemic Britain

The shift to home working has meant that many are looking for a new area to live in, in search of more space and a better quality of life. Seaside and rural areas have seen more interest from homebuyers, with demand dropping in central locations. Speaking on a Move iQ video last month, Phil Spencer shared the best places for families to live in the UK.

Claiming third spot was Bradford-on-Avon, which is located near to Bath.

Despite its desired location, Bradford-on-Avon’s average property price stands at £417,516, cheaper than Bath.

The property expert said: “Known for its history and beauty, the town is home to a canal, ancient monuments, castles and the shambles.

“Our list of top places to live uncovered some hidden gems too.

“At an average of £480,000 for a family home, Rye in East Sussex sits somewhere in the middle when it comes to house prices.

“It clinched top spot for natural beauty and it’s easy to see why. It has authentic charm and a mediaeval feel to it.”

Rye is home to beach walks as well as plenty of countryside to enjoy.

The old part of the town within the former town walls has plenty of independent shops, art galleries and restaurants to enjoy.

Next on the list came Ilfracombe in North Devon, which has an average property price of £325,000 for a family home.

Phil said: “A seaside town popular with foodies and home to a small harbour surrounded by cliffs, it’s little wonder that Ilfracombe scored so highly.”

Following North Devon came a location in North Yorkshire, Wilton.

It was ranked fifth in the country for architectural beauty, thanks to its ancient buildings.

A family home in Wilton will set homebuyers back £430,000, making it more expensive than the UK’s average house price.
