‘Perfect location’: Kirstie Allsopp shares best places to buy property right now

In a recent interview with The Times, Kirstie shared the best places to buy a house right now. She was joined by Phil Spencer, who has spent years presenting shows alongside Kirstie. Both of them agreed that coastal towns have seen the biggest improvements over the years.

She said: “The shops, the architecture, the sea…the proximity to Newcastle, just a perfect location.”

Properties in Cullercoats had an overall average price of £288,146 over the last year, according to Rightmove.

Rightmove said: “The majority of sales in Cullercoats during the last year were semi-detached properties, selling for an average price of £289,987.

“Terraced properties sold for an average of £268,926, with flats fetching £186,069.”

The area is also hugely popular with families settling down with some fantastic schools local to the area.

For young families looking for somewhere to move out of a city location, Kirstie advised looking at smaller towns.

She said: “Harrogate is a fantastic place and Exeter because you’ve got Devon on your doorstep – two moors, two shores!

“You have to be really careful going fully rural. As soon as your children want to see friends, do activities, play tennis, you spend your life in the car.

“Do not move to the middle of nowhere. Loads of my friends have done it – it’s so optimistic – but almost impossible to reverse.”

Rightmove recently named the top rural locations in the UK for homebuyers.

Rural locations have seen an increase in buyer demand in the last year, with many Britons leaving the city life for a life in the country.

The locations found all have a population of less than 10,000, with Frodsham in Cheshire at the top of the list.

With an average asking price of £322,242, Frodsham is a market town just south of the River Mersey.

Second on the list was Cupar in Fife, Scotland, followed by Manningtree in Essex, which has an average asking price of £376,764.

It has attracted lots of buyers moving out of city centres, which has pushed average prices up by 13 percent in a year.

Other locations on the list included Cromer in Norfolk, Iver in Buckinghamshire and Carnforth in Lancashire.
