Our Yorkshire Farm: Amanda Owen stunned by animal discovery ‘never seen that before’

Amanda Owen, 47, was astonished to find an unlikely nest at the farm during a recent episode of Our Yorkshire Farm. The shepherdess took her youngest child Nancy to investigate the discovery, which was a tawny owl sitting on her eggs. The star of the hit Channel 5 series explained she hadn’t seen an owl nest before and was excited by the rare sight.

With daughter Nancy, the youngest of her nine children, in tow, Amanda described what she had found.

“We found a tawny owl sitting on its eggs,” she stated.

She asked her daughter: “Let’s go and have a look and see how many eggs there are.”

Amanda showed the camera how three eggs were perched in a nest as she commented: “So there, that’s the first time I’ve ever found an owl nest.

“She’s got three beautiful eggs, so that is really exciting isn’t it, Nancy?”

The three-year-old agreed, and Amanda continued: “So, you could have potentially three baby owls in here, how good is that?

“You’re going to have to get good with that mousetrap.”

“But we need to find a mouse for that tawny owl,” Nancy agreed.

Unfortunately, the helpless lamb had got caught in a small section of the river and had been unable to get out.

“Sometimes you get mysteries and sometimes you get an answer, and sometimes you don’t but that’s your answer,” the famous farmer explained.

She continued: “This poor little newborn lamb.”

Youngest of the nine children, Nancy, observed: “That’s very sad isn’t it, mum?”

Amanda added: “What will have happened, can you see the mum had her lamb there?

“She had a nice drink of water and her newborn lamb…”

“Just fell into the water,” Nancy finished, “It would be good if it was still alive.”

“Of course, it would be much better if it was still alive,” Amanda agreed.
