The breakout star, ongoing enigma and cameo-making maybes of the Giants’ 2021 draft class

It was not a big class. The Giants selected just a half-dozen players in the 2021 NFL Draft, so there was never going to be strength in numbers. The last time they came out of a draft with fewer players was 2005 after the mega-trade to acquire Eli Manning a year earlier left the Giants with just four picks.

What can a team do with four picks? Well, plenty if it takes the right four players with those picks. The Giants took cornerback Corey Webster in the second round, defensive end Justin Tuck in the third round, massive running back Brandon Jacobs in the fourth round and defensive end Eric Moore in the sixth round. Webster, Tuck and Jacobs became fixtures and key contributors to two Super Bowl-winning teams. It was a small but fantastically successful class.

It is too soon to know exactly what to make of the six-player 2021 draft class, other than to state there has not been much bang for the buck from these rookies with three games left in another dreary Giants (4-10) season.
