Rachel Burden took to social media this morning to bid farewell to her radio show for 2021. She co-presents the morning news show on BBC Radio 5 Live with Rick Edwards from 6am until 9am every day.
However, she confirmed she’ll be taking a festive break following today’s show.
Earlier this morning, Rachel penned to her 11,000 Instagram followers: “Last show before Christmas.
“Massive thanks to our brilliant team @bbc5live breakfast who’ve been incredible this year with the pandemic, huge sporting events like Olympic and Euros, and then a new show to launch.
“So grateful to them all – everyone has worked their socks off.
“Time to face plant in a tin of chocolates/tube of cheese-based savoury snacks. Happy Christmas.”
In the accompanying picture, Rachel posed next to chocolates, biscuits and a cup of tea.

Andrea Whitehead penned to the star: “@rachelburden @rickedwards1 thanks for a great show.
“Was dreading the change as I loved the previous partnership (felt the same when Shelagh left!).
“I needn’t have worried as you’re both brilliant and work really well together. Have a wonderful Christmas.”
Rick joined the radio show back in November, replacing Nicky Campbell.
At the time, Rick told the BBC: “When it comes to 5 Live, I’m a long-time listener, first-time breakfast-show-presenter.
“I’ve always loved the station’s heady mix of news, sport and free-wheeling conversation.
“I realise I have some big boots to fill – I checked, and Nicky Campbell’s an eye-watering UK12!
“But I’m very excited about popping them on and sitting alongside the brilliant Rachel every morning.”
