Billy Bob Thornton on his cameo in the new Paramount+ show ‘1883’

Point your wagons West

New series “1883” — probably when Biden was conceived — is also the name of Paramount’s prequel to its hit show “Yellowstone.”

Billy Bob Thornton: “This is about a journey out West. Taylor Sheridan wrote a cameo specially with me in mind. I said, ‘I can’t. I’m on tour with a band.’ He said, ‘It’ll take only two days. Come to Fort Worth.’ Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Sam Elliott — who are in it — are all my old friends. We’ve worked on projects together. So to be with old friends was great. So I did it.”

But his sagebrush advice: “Got to be careful with cameos. You must pick them very carefully. You can’t do too many.”

This “1883” gallops onto your flat screen on Sunday.

Mandate may face challenges

Bill de Blasio, de soon de ex de Mayor, is not only requiring teachers and all public school employees to get vaccinated, but now also 56,000 employees of yeshivas, Catholic and private schools starting Dec. 20. Religious leaders repping 930 nonpublic school employees wrote him suggesting he reconsider. If not, look for a lawsuit involving the separation of church and state. And de Blasio.

Holiday hits

Signature Bank’s thank-you to employees was to rent the Beacon Theatre, hire Hall & Oates and have them perform 90 minutes of their hits. And have a bank biggie speak and thank the workers for whatever. And claim he can now say he was the opening act for Hall & Oates. And claim he has now performed on Broadway. And his words received as much applause as if they’d all gotten a raise . . . Also, St. Pat’s is holding a two-hour Christmas carol concert at 7 p.m. Thursday. It’s called “A City Singing at Christmas.” So if not a Silent Night, then for sure a Holy Night . . . Listen, if Santa’s overloaded with his schlepping, know the Javits Center has organized a farm — 6.75 acres of greenery. Besides car shows, Comic Cons and vaccinations, it can supply your kitchen. Tucked out with a garden, farm, orchard, greenhouse, aviary and solar panels, the Javits may also be a hub for animals. It can house 35 bird species and five bat species — which allows room for Fauci.

How petty

Voices that call global warming “junk science” say it’s a plot to bolster the pharmaceutical industry. Arkansas prohibits regulations that limit carbon emissions. Virginia pledged to withdraw from an interstate pact to reduce carbon emissions. Besides summer’s wildfires, drought out West and this week’s horrific tornado. The only governor showing leadership in such tragedy is Democrat Andy Beshear of red state Kentucky. Kentucky Sens. Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell had opposed a rescue plan saying they didn’t want to bail out New York at a time COVID hit us hardest. McConnell said NY should declare bankruptcy. Now, Kentucky rightly requires enormous federal aid. And its great portion comes from New York, which our taxpayers could not bear if the city went into bankruptcy.

Sounded good

Comedian Aasif Mandvi reminiscing to Creative Coalition’s Robin Bronk: “I remember when I first did ‘The Daily Show.’ Sitting out front in the audience, well-hidden under a baseball cap, but a familiar face I thought I could make out. It’s Bruce Springsteen. He’s with his young son. So, afterward he says to me ‘Hey, you were really good.’ So what do I say back to him? I say, ‘Yeah, you were good too.’ ”

With today’s inflation, products shortage and limited employees, you can’t believe the prices for tinsel, wreaths, lights, ornaments and Christmas trees. I know only God can make a tree, but he should at least investigate the salesmen.

Only in New York, kids, only in New York.
