Andy Murray splits with trainer Jamie Delgado as Brit trials his potential replacement

Andy Murray has split with his coach Jamie Delgado and will work with German Jan De Witt at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship next week.

And Delgado will now work with Canadian star Denis Shapovalov.

Former Davis Cup player Delgado. a long-time friend, joined the Murray team in 2016 working under Ivan Lendl and helped the Scot to a second Wimbledon title and world No.1.

He took over as head coach when Lendl quit for a second time in 2017 and has stuck with Murray through his two hip operations and the pandemic.

The Scot, 34, is now ranked world No.134 after failing to win three matches in a single ATP Tour event this year. He had a trial with Esteban Carril at the recent Stockholm Open.

And now the three-time Major winner will work in Abu Dhabi with De Witt after working with Murray and his team at the National Tennis Centre in London this week.

The German has previously worked with Gilles Simon, Gael Monfils, Tatsuma Ito and Nikoloz Basilashvili and Viktor Troicki.

Murray will play Dominic Thiem in an exhibition match at the MWTC next Thursday. US Open champion Emma Raducanu will play Olympic champion Belinda Bencic in the same event.

World No. 14 Shapovalov crushed Murray in three sets in the third round of Wimbledon this year.
