Unhappy Nets fans are ready to fire Steve Nash, the same way unhappy Giants fans are ready to can Joe Judge.

Losing is bad enough, but adopting an attitude of accepting a loss is, throughout sports history, and especially New York sports history, typically met by pitchforks. The Nets’ postgame media session following their latest defeat against a quality opponent, 111-107 to the Bulls on Saturday, sure sounded as if it were mostly an endorsement of play that did not lead to a win.

“Overall, I thought it was a really good effort against a really good team. Just didn’t make shots we usually make,” Nash said, only leaving off a shrug. “I thought the guys tried, played the right way, got in the paint. Just couldn’t close the deal.”
