The Repair Shop's Jay Blades broke down in tears in treatment for painful Strictly injury

The Repair Shop star Jay Blades has taken to Instagram to tell how he “cried” following a rehearsal for the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special after practicing with his professional dance partner Luba Mushtuk. The furniture restorer, 51, revealed how he thought his back was “busted” from strenuous rehearsals ahead of the festive episode.

In view of his 115,000 followers, Jay gave his fans an update on how training with Luba is going.

Addressing his fans, The Repair Shop star said: “How we doing guys?

“I’ll tell you what, I’ve just had a physio, you know the Strictly people?

“They hook you up with a physio and it’s unbelievable,” Jay revealed.

He went on: “I’ll tell you how unbelievable it was, I cried because she got rid of the pain.

“I thought my back was busted but it -,” the star said, before being interrupted by his dance partner Luba.

“You cried because of your dance!” she could be heard saying.

Clarifying the incident, Jay went on: “I didn’t cry because of my dance, it’s nothing to do with the dance, it’s the pain, the pain!

Rolling onto his side, Jay replied: “You’re asking me if everything’s ok?

“You have worked me like you wouldn’t believe, this is the most comfortable position in the world,” he explained.

“Ok, well it’s important you’re feeling good, you know,” Luba responded.

Jay hit back: “Don’t ignore me! I am feeling tired, knackered, beaten,” he said before adding, “I’m not broken”.

“Well you’re doing great though, I’m proud of you,” Luba said.

The Strictly Christmas Special airs on Christmas day at 7.10pm.

It sees dance professionals pair up with six new celebrities.

Joining Jay on the show will be singer Anne Marie, newsreader Moira Stuart, broadcaster Adrian Chiles, TV star Fred Sirieix and comedian Mel Giedroyc.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6.40pm on BBC One.
