‘I try not to think about it!’ Rose Ayling-Ellis makes emotional Strictly admission

On Wednesday evening, Rose Ayling-Ellis and partner Giovanni Pernice joined Janette Manrara on the sofa of Strictly Come Dancing spin-off show It Takes Two. The Frankie Lewis actor is the first deaf person to compete in the popular BBC competition and continues to impress the judges week-on-week. Earlier this month, the Eastenders actor performed a touching silent moment in her Couple’s Choice routine giving recognition to the deaf community. It’s no wonder then she has become a hit with fans and made it to the quarter-finals.

However, when host Janette addressed her progress, Rose admitted she tries not think about how far she has come.

The American television presenter praised the couple for their achievements after making it into week 11.

She said: “We need to quickly celebrate, you made it to the quarter-final! That is very exciting.

“How do you feel about coming so far in the competition?”

The 26-year-old performer confessed: “I want to carry on forever.”

Turning to Giovanni, Janette remarked: “She’s absolutely loving it. Giovanni, you must be so proud of her.”

The Italian professional quickly followed up with: “I am very proud. She’s a fantastic student, she listens to me.”

Addressing how strict he can be in the training room, Giovanni added: “I know I can be horrible sometimes because, you know, this is the nature of the job,”

Rose shook her head in disagreement but the Latin Dance champion continued: “You became a very good dancer.”

At the end of the interview, host Janette shared her excitement with the couple about their dance routine next weekend.

She announced: “I cannot wait to see the American smooth at the weekend.”

There are remaining five couples edging closer to the Glitterball Trophy but who will impress the judges this weekend?

AJ Odudu and her partner Kai Widdrington are set to perform a Salsa to Rhythm Is Gonna Get You/Get On Your Feet by Gloria Estefan.

Meanwhile, John Whaite and his partner Johannes Radebe will tackle the Salsa to We Are Family by Sister Sledge.

Dan Walker and Nadiya Bychkova will be performing a Tango to Santa Maria by Gotan Project.

And finally, Rose and Giovanni will perform an American Smooth to This Will Be (An Everlasting Love) by Natalie Cole.
