Madonna, 67, initially received over 1.1million likes on an explicit Instagram photo dump, but the platform took down her post due to her nipple being exposed. She has reposted the photos, covering her nipple, that show her posing on and under a bed in heels, fishnet tights, a thong and a bra. In one photo she appears to be naked.

In the caption she wrote: “I’m reposting photographs Instagram took down without warning or notification.
“The reason they gave my management, that does not handle my account, was that a small portion of my nipple was exposed.
“It is still astounding to me that we live in a culture that allows every inch of a woman’s body to be shown except a nipple.
“As if that is the only part of a woman’s anatomy that could be sexualised.
“The nipple that nourishes the baby!
“Can’t a man’s nipple be experienced as erotic!?
“And what about a woman’s ass which is never censored anywhere.
Reposting the photo collection on November 25, which is Thanksgiving Day in the USA, she said: “Giving thanks that I have managed to maintain my sanity through four decades of censorship, sexism, ageism, and misogyny.
“Perfectly timed with the lies we have been raised to believe about the pilgrims peacefully breaking bread with the Native American Indians when they landed on Plymouth Rock! God bless America. #artistsareheretodisturbthepeace.”
In a poll of 1,426 people, held from November 25 to 26, 79 per cent of voters said Madonna had gone too far with her latest reinvention, whilst 20 per cent of people said she had not and one per cent were not sure what to think.
One voter, Mad Mackam, said: “Oh please, three things spring to mind: mutton and lamb, silk purse and sow’s ear, and photoshop software.”
But Virginia Pink M came to Madonna’s defence: “Or, she just works hard to look good for her age?
“I do the same. Who wants to look old, act old, think old, and be old? That’s the last thing I want for myself.
“This growing old gracefully thing is a load of old hogwash.
“I think she looks terrific.
“So she’s had a bit of surgery, doesn’t everyone?”
Another reader, Flash, agreed: “She spent a lot to look that good, give her a break.”
Many Express voters took a less empathetic stand-point.
As Blades said: “To me this just seems like a further example of a rich, ageing celeb, who just can’t let go and tries desperately to remain relevant.”
Metal Micki remarked: “What she does in private is fine – but there’s something vaguely pathetic about this craving of notoriety.”
A reader going by ‘Konami123’ pondered: “It seems singers nowadays can’t sell songs without selling sex.”
Whilst a nameless reader left the discussion on an interesting note, asking: “Why do people have to get so outraged about everything? Look or don’t look. Calm down.”
