Gavan O’Herlihy dead: Happy Days actor and James Bond villain dies aged 70

Happy Days star Gavan O’Herlihy, who played Chuck Cunningham in the hit series, has died. The Irish actor’s death was confirmed earlier today by his brother, Cormac.

His brother shared that the star died back on September 15 in Bath.

While he declined to share cause of death, he did say it was not Covid related.

Gavan was an Irish-born American actor who was best known for his role in Happy Days.

Viewers will remember his brief stint as Chuck in the sitcom, as well as his many other big screen roles.

His final role is in the 2021 film Queen of the Redwood Mountains.

He starred alongside Ryan Sampson, Bill Hutchens and Oliver Dench in the film.

Following the news of his death, many tributes have been pouring in for the late actor.

Director Ron Howard tweeted: “I knew him as the 1st of 2 Chucks on #HappyDays & then as Airk in #Willow where I had the pleasure of directing him. 

“A talented actor with a big free spirit.”
