In the 1990s Oasis were quickly becoming one of the biggest British bands of all time. Their triumphant rise to fame brought them interest and attention from all kinds of other artists, including their idols: The Beatles. While Ringo Starr was quite friendly towards the Manchester-based rockers, George Harrison was not.
During a documentary about Liam and Noel Gallagher’s career with Oasis, Harrison gave some comments about the band.
He said: “The music lacks depth, and the singer Liam is a pain.”
The Quiet Beatle added: “The rest of the band don’t need him.”
Meanwhile, Paul McCartney joined Harrison in slamming the Wonderwall singers.

McCartney piled on: “They’re derivative and they think too much of themselves. They mean nothing to me.”
However, his thoughts about the brash band didn’t last too long.
In 2016 McCartney told GQ: “Oasis were young, fresh and writing good tunes.”
He also added that the “biggest mistake” the band made was saying: “We’re going to be bigger than The Beatles.”
Liam also praised another member of the Fab Four, revealing how he “could not handle” meeting Ringo Starr in 2019, adding he “had to leave the room”.
He said: “Paul McCartney I was alright with, but Ringo Starr I actually got off. I don’t know, Ringo just freaked me out.
“I was like: ‘F*****g Ringo man!’ His voice and everything, it was just like, I thought I was tripping. Even his name, Ringo, was just f*****g mind-blowing.”
Despite the criticism Liam received from Harrison, he later explained how fond he was of the star.
Speaking to MTV, Liam said: “I still love The Beatles and I still love George Harrison as a songwriter in The Beatles.”
He added: “But, as a person, I think he’s a f*****g nipple [a derogatory term for being stupid].”
