How touring Broadway shows are strictly following COVID-19 safety rules

Hit the lights, tonight’s the night … in Norfolk, Virginia.

Nederlander National Markets, which presents touring Broadway shows all over the country, has partnered with Wellstand Health to ensure COVID-19 safety precautions are met and even exceeded.

Local venue staff and backstage crew in cities including Richmond, Virginia, Norfolk, Virginia, and Reno, Nevada will now get their nasal cavities gently tickled by staff to ensure safety.

Upcoming shows in Norfolk include “Anastasia,” “Hairspray,” “Jersey Boys,” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”

Meanwhile, the Great White Way has made a concerted effort to get back to business after being dark for nearly two years — the longest Broadway blackout in history — due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But after almost a year-and-a-half Broadway finally began reopening and kicked it off with a starry Tony Awards ceremony in September.

The awards show was quickly dispensed with and was followed by a special called “The Tony Awards Present: Broadway’s Back!” which celebrated the return to Broadway and featured performances by nominated musicals like “Jagged Little Pill,” “Tina: The Tina Turner Musical” and “Moulin Rouge! The Musical.”

Since then, shows have been reopening like “Six” and “American Utopia” and ones that never got the chance to even open like “Caroline, or Change” and “Diana: The Musical.”
