The Duke of Cambridge, 39, who will also be joined by some members of The Earthshot Prize Council, donned a smart black suit adorned with a poppy as he started a busy day of engagements on the second day of COP26.
The meeting will provide an opportunity for Prize Winners and finalists to meet industry leaders and experts with a view towards supercharging and scaling their innovative solutions to the world’s greatest environmental challenges.
William also reunited with former New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, 79, who he previously joined forces with to warn against ‘environmental devastation’ and urge ‘decisive action’ to tackle climate change in a piece co-authored for USA Today.

The Global Alliance are an unprecedented network of philanthropists, NGOs and some of the world’s biggest companies and brands representing 3.6 million employees globally that together, will help support and scale the innovative and ground-breaking solutions developed by the Earthshot Prize winners and finalists.
Later, Prince William and The Earthshot Prize winners and finalists will feature at a key meeting of World Leaders taking place at COP26.
During the ‘Accelerating Clean Technology Innovation and Deployment’ session in one of the plenary rooms, Prince William will address the assembled world leaders and introduce the winners and finalists of the inaugural Earthshot Prize Awards, which took place on 17th October.
The royal will be joined on stage by 15-year-old India-based Vinisha Umashankar, the youngest Earthshot Prize Finalist.

Vinisha’s solar-powered ironing cart is a clean alternative to the charcoal-powered street irons that press clothes for millions of Indians each day.
Concerned by the burning of charcoal on the health of her local ironing vendors and the impact on air quality across India, her solar-powered invention means five hours of sunshine can power the iron for six hours.
Extra mobility means vendors can sell on doorsteps as well as the roadside and built-in phone top up and charging points bring extra income too.
Vinisha’s example shows that by innovating today, the next generation can create a cleaner tomorrow.
Ahead of the session, the winner and finalists of the Fix our Climate Earthshot will display their pioneering solutions on stage in the Plenary Hall.

This includes Thailand, Italy and Germany-based AEM Electrolyser from Enapter, who won The Earthshot Prize to Fix Our Climate and £1 million in last month’s ceremony for their ingenious green hydrogen technology that has the power to transform how we power our homes and buildings and fuel our transport.
Bangladesh-based finalist SOLbazaar will showcase the technology behind the world’s first peer-to-peer energy exchange network and Reeddi Capsules for their solar-powered energy capsule which is transforming clean energy across Nigeria.
Following this, Prince William will join The Earthshot Prize winners and finalists to meet with senior Government representatives from some of the countries of the winners and finalists.
This informal gathering will be an opportunity for them all to engage directly with their Governments on their ambitious plans to scale their solutions.
