It is recommended that a mattress is cleaned every six months or so, and turned over every other week.

This is because mattresses can harbour dust mites, dead skin, dirt and debris.

Kaylee Cabrera said: “Baking soda and vinegar. That’s what I used to clean my son’s mattress and it looked brand new after.

“Lots and lots of scrubbing needed, also used the carpet cleaner attachment.”

The cleaning guru used the Febreze Fabric Refresher Antibacterial spray, which helps to remove 99.9 percent of bacteria as well as eliminate odour.

Mrs Hinch then hoovered her mattress before sprinkling bicarbonate of soda across her entire mattress.

She also added a few drops of essential oils onto her mattress after hoovering the bicarbonate of soda off.

Bicarbonate of soda acts as a cleaning agent due to its alkali properties, and is a great household cleaner.
