Antonio Conte wants Man Utd 'assurances' to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager

It is not yet clear if United would be willing to meet Conte’s demands, but the Italian’s reputation as one of the best managers in the world would likely make him an appealing candidate should the club wish to make a change in the dugout.

Conte has a proven track record and has won in England before, guiding Chelsea to the Premier League title in 2017 and the FA Cup a year later.

Former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane joins Conte on the shortlist of names touted to replace Solskjaer, although the United board have made it clear that the Norwegian has their backing for the time being.

With crucial games coming up against Tottenham, Atalanta and Manchester City, Solskjaer will hope he can pick up some positive results in a bid to ease the pressure on his position.
