Manchester United v Liverpool: Alex Ferguson shakes his head but Kenny Dalglish cannot stop laughing

A shellshocked Sir Alex Ferguson was seen shaking his head in disbelief as Liverpool cut Manchester United to ribbons at Old Trafford – with Reds icon Sir Kenny Dalglish seen laughing his head off just a few seats away.

Liverpool thrashed United 5-0 on Sunday evening, taking advantage of a defensive horror show from the hosts as Naby Keita and Diogo Jota scored before a Mohamed Salah hat-trick.

Home substitute Paul Pogba was then sent off for a reckless lunging tackle on Keita, who was forced off injured, to compound the misery for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side on a truly sobering night.

United managerial legend Ferguson was present in the crowd for the mauling of his former club, and according to the social media footage, it evidently did not make for pleasant viewing.

The Instagram video shows Ferguson exhaling frustratedly, pursed lips and a frown darkening his face, before he leans over to the person sitting next to him to offer some thoughts on the game.

Footage then cuts to Dalglish, sitting very close to Ferguson in the stadium, who cannot stop laughing and appears to say ‘F****ing hell’ at the end of the video.

Salah slid in Keita for a simple finish very early in the game, before Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire ran into one another, leaving Trent Alexander-Arnold to square to Jota for a tap-in.

The Egyptian – who has now scored in 10 consecutive games for his club – was then quicker off the mark than Shaw and Maguire to turn home Keita’s cut-back.

Salah then profited from more calamitous defending in first half stoppage time, finding the bottom corner while completely unmarked to rub salt in the United wounds, before adding a fifth after the break to complete a marvellous hat-trick.
