Wonka FIRST LOOK: Timothee Chalamet films Charlie And The Chocolate Factory prequel in Dorset

Timothee Chalamet looked well and truly in character as he filmed scenes for the new Willy Wonka film at Lyme Regis in Dorset on Monday.

The actor, 25, could be seen sporting a purple coat and dark brown top hat as he filmed an outdoor scene for the prequel, simply called Wonka.

Timothee also sported a pair of gold striped trousers and carried a large brown suitcase as he was joined by two crew members for the shoot.

He completed his look with a purple scarf, brown bag and Willy Wonka’s famous cane.  

The film star appeared to be shooting a winter scene as technicians were spotted spraying a boat with fake snow.

Fake snow also lined the boardwalk for filming, which got underway in September.      

Timothee gave his fans quite the surprise on Sunday, sharing the first look at him as Willy Wonka.

He also shared a snap of his famous cane, while sharing one of the more iconic lines from the original film, 1971’s Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory. 

‘The suspense is terrible, I hope it will last …’ Chalamet said in the caption of his post, along with a factory emoji, a chocolate bar emoji and the #Wonka hashtag.

This was the first official photo we’ve seen from the production.

Filming has been taking place at Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden, with the film slated for release on March 17, 2023.

Timothee stars alongside Oscar winner Olivia Colman, Keegan-Michael Key, Rowan Atkinson, Sally Hawkins and Matt Lucas.

Paul King directs the prequel from a script he co-wrote with Simon Farnaby (who also stars) and Simon Rich.

Timothee has a busy month ahead of him with two highly-anticipated movies hitting theaters, Dune and The French Dispatch, both in theaters October 22.

The French Dispatch is the latest from writer-director Wes Anderson, following a group of American journalists working in France for a magazine called The French Dispatch.
