Losing Maguire after an hour was arguably the biggest blow of the day for the United boss.
The skipper struggled to recover after a collision with Danny Ings, and any long-term absence would hit United hard.
That double whammy could hardly have come at a worse time for Solskjaer – with United’s defeat against Villa adding to an embarrassing recent record for the Old Trafford chief.
Hause’s goal for the visitors means that United have kept just one clean sheet in their last 16 games.
With that staggering statistic, it’s hard to see how United can mount a serious title challenge if they remain incapable of shutting teams out.
And that’s going to be hard for Solskjaer to try and amend if he is set to be without Shaw and Maguire for an extended spell.
