Instagram DOWN: Users left unable to upload to Instagram Stories due to ongoing outage

Hundreds of Instagram users have been left unable to login to the social network this morning. The outage seems to have impacted users on both the iPhone and Android app, with some Instagram fans left unable to scroll through their feed, post new photos or albums, watch Reels, and more. However, the vast majority of complaints seem to be centred on Instagram Stories – ephemeral slideshows of photos and videos that are only available for 24-hours.

Users who try to post new images or videos to their Instagram Story receive an error message that reads: “Something went wrong, please try again later”

According to independent website DownDetector, which tracks reports from customers across social media to monitor the performance of web services, more than 700 Instagram users have taken to social media to complain about issues with the service. Using the geolocation data linked with these posts, DownDetector shows that most complaints seem to be coming from London, Manchester, and Glasgow. Users in other European countries also seem to be impacted by the ongoing outage.

Instagram has yet to comment on the reported outage. The Facebook-owned service has not listed the outage under the Known Issues tab on Help pages. This is where Instagram usually lists problems with its service that will impact a huge number of people.

As it stands, Instagram only lists a problem with deleted comments still appearing beneath posts on the social network. It confirms: “If you keep getting an error message that a comment can’t be deleted, it may be because the comment was already deleted in our system. The comment may still appear because you’re viewing an old version of the page. We’re aware of this issue and are working on a fix.”
