Alex Scott told to 'leave it out' by Dion Dublin in Football Focus intro 'Don't want to!'

Alex, 36, was on hand to host another episode of Football Focus, having taken on the reins from Dan Walker, 44, at the start of the season. The former Strictly Come Dancing star was joined by Homes Under The Hammer star Dion, 52, and former professional footballer, Mark Lawrenson, 64. However, when it came to making the introductions, the host of the BBC show was shut down by Dion when she mentioned his stint on Celebrity MasterChef, which is currently airing on-screen.

Opening the show and after briefly referencing the recent transfer window, Alex said: “Just to put your minds at rest for the moment, our Dion and Lawro are staying put.

“They’re not going anywhere, no transfers. Lawro, welcome back,” she told her co-star, who joked no-one would have him so he would be “out with the bins”.

The presenter turned her attention to Dion next as she mocked his Celebrity MasterChef appearance: “Have you put the utensils away?”

“All away, all away at the moment, yes. They’re all in the draw. Leave it out now, please,” he continued.

“I don’t want to talk about it,” he added with a big grin on his face, with Alex promising she wouldn’t reveal any spoilers.

However, food talk was put to the side and focus returned to football as Alex spoke to her co-stars about the upcoming games and the latest news from the transfer window.

This was one of the first shows the former Strictly contestant has hosted since taking over from Dan earlier this year.

Alex is the first female host of the show in its 47-year history and of her appointment, she said: “To say I’m the Football Focus presenter feels surreal.

“I’ve had some amazing messages and an incredible reaction on social media – I want to thank everyone for their support.”

“From day one, Dan Walker has guided me – and crucially he let me ask questions,” the former professional footballer said.

“Dan knew I wanted to be a presenter so he helped hone my skills and allowed me to step out of my ‘pundit’ comfort zone on the show.

“Of course it’s going to be different but I hope you embrace it and stay with us.

“I promise you I will bring the best of myself to Football Focus and I hope you enjoy the ride. Today it is all starting to feel real, and I am ready.”

Football Focus airs Saturdays at 12:30pm on BBC One. Celebrity MasterChef continues Wednesday at 9pm on BBC One.
