CARABAO CUP THIRD ROUND DRAW: Manchester United to host West Ham, Chelsea take on Aston Villa and Nuno Espirito Santo faces another return to Wolves with Spurs… and holders Manchester City meet Wycombe

  • Manchester United will take on West Ham in the third round of the Carabao Cup
  • Chelsea host Aston Villa while Liverpool go to Norwich in other all-top-flight ties
  • Holders Manchester City will take on Wycombe, Arsenal to play AFC Wimbledon
  • Nuno Espirito Santo faces another return to Wolves with Tottenham next month
  • League Two sides Oldham and Rochdale face trips to Brentford and Burnley

Manchester United will take on West Ham in the third round of the Carabao Cup in one of several all-Premier League clashes in the draw.

Chelsea will also host Aston Villa while Liverpool will head to Norwich again after Jurgen Klopp’s side won at Carrow Road on the opening weekend of the new Premier League campaign.

Nuno Espirito Santo will face another Molineux reunion as Tottenham will travel to Wolves, but the draw was easier for Arsenal and holders Manchester City who were drawn at home to AFC Wimbledon and Wycombe respectively.

Oldham, the lowest-ranked team left in the draw from League Two, have been given a Premier League away day as they travel to top-flight newboys Brentford. Fellow fourth tier side Rochdale will also visit a top-flight team in Burnley next month.

Meanwhile, one League One side will definitely be in the hat for round four as Wigan and Sunderland were paired together, while Cheltenham Town from the same division have a trip to Preston in their first ever third round appearance.

For the Premier League sides, Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City will go to Millwall, Everton also have a Championship trip to QPR, while Southampton go to recently relegated Sheffield United.

Brighton will host Swansea, Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds will take on Fulham while Watford will host Stoke.

Arsenal were a high-profile team appearing in round two but swept aside a young West Bromwich Albion team 6-0 to set up their tie with AFC Wimbledon.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hit a hat-trick on his first start of the season, while Bukayo Saka, Nicolas Pepe and Alex Lacazette eased the pressure on Mikel Arteta, whose side had failed to find the net in their first two games of the campaign.

The matches will be played on the week commencing September 20.
