Young Sheldon ended season four in May with an unsettling cliffhanger which could’ve opened the doors for George Cooper’s Sr (played by Lance Barber) potential cheating storyline. However, a new clue could see CBS deciding against exploring the infidelity on the upcoming season of the Big Bang Theory spin-off.
After an explosive argument with Mary Cooper (Zoe Perry), George headed to the bar where he met newly single Barbara Sparks (Melissa Peterman).
The finale ended with her asking George if he needed some company, to which he agreed.
After watching this, fans were convinced this was how George’s cheating storyline was going to be explored as it played a huge role in the original series.
Although his father had already died before Big Bang Theory had begun, Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) was still dealing with the trauma that came from the infidelity.

In season 10 Sheldon opened up to Penny Hofstadter (Kaley Cuoco) and revealed the real reason he knocks three times before entering a room.
Many believed it was simply one of his many questionable rituals, but instead, Sheldon was triggered into doing so because he walked in on his father with another woman when he was 13-years-old.
Although his father’s infidelity storyline had already been predestined it looks as though this wasn’t going to be the moment, otherwise, Sheldon would’ve mentioned Brenda to Penny.
Fans of the Big Bang Theory know this isn’t a detail Sheldon would leave out or forget.
Big Bang Theory fans were initially put off watching Young Sheldon due to the vast amount of plot holes and inconsistencies.
As an adult, Sheldon was a huge germaphobe and resorted to making another version of himself to make contact with other people.
However, in Young Sheldon, he was shaking people’s hands at the donor dinner – although he was reluctant he did it because his scholarship depended on it.
In the Big Bang Theory, Sheldon revealed he would even wear mittens during prayers with his family members – to avoid all contact.
The cheating storyline could be one of the plots that finally align the original and the spin-off.
However, fans will have to tune into season five to see if Geoge Sr will have an affair with Brenda or whether it would be someone else.
Thankfully for the loyal viewers, CBS has confirmed the upcoming instalment of Young Sheldon is coming to the streaming platform on October 7, every Thursday at 8 pm.
Big Bang Theory seasons 1-12 are available to stream on CBS.
