A major chemical explosion at a secret Russian plant has killed one and severely wounded six more, say reports.
Five men and two women suffered horrific ‘chemical burns’.
‘When the fire began, people ran out, pulling their clothes off because they were burning alive,’ a source told Tsargrad Rostov.
The incident was reportedly at a secret section of Kamensky chemical plant which undertakes work for the Russian defence industry.

The workshop evidently had a door two metres thick.
One victim suffered 80 per cent chemical burns, the rest 100 per cent.
First reports suggested there was an issue with wiring which caused chemical reaction and the explosion.
Residents in Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Rostov region said there was an unpleasant chemical smell in the air.

There appeared to be attempts by the Russian authorities too hush up the accident.
The plant is engaged in the production of chemical products, including for the Russian Ministry of Defence, it is understood.
It has links to NPO Splav which produces multiple launch rocket systems Grad, Smerch, and Uragan.

He said: ‘They were not supposed to be there.
‘No-one is supposed to be here while the equipment is getting checked.
‘Half of their shift burned.
‘About 2 weeks ago two others were burned, a man and a young woman.
‘My brother, we have been together since the orphanage. We are breadwinners for our families.

‘He must have been forced to do the work which he has never done before. We are told very little.’
Victims were named as Alexey Boiko, born 1982, Gennady Ivanov, born 1987, Gennady Andreev, born 1990, Svetlana Mikhina, born 1966, Galina Anatolyevna Avdeeva 1971 Alexander Krasnikov, born 1988, and Vyacheslav Sukhobriy,born 1978.
The plant is also known to produce sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, which is used in the oil and gas sector. mining and processing, paint and varnish, textile and many other industries. In addition, polyester resins, semi-finished varnishes, wallpaper glue & antifreeze.
However, the workshop where it happened is a ‘closed’ type, making products for a so far undisclosed ‘special purpose’.
