Why isn’t Helen Skelton presenting the Olympics?

Helen Skelton is probably best known for either co-hosting BBC’s Blue Peter for five years or as a presenter for Countryfile since 2014. She also has a reputation of being a bit of a daredevil, having completed a high-wire walk and flown with the famous Red Arrows. This made her a great host for the Olympics five years ago, however, she is nowhere to be seen in 2021.

Why isn’t Helen Skelton presenting the Olympics?

Skelton was one of the stars who co-presented the Olympics in 2016 which was held in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

She worked alongside Sir Steve Redgrave, Hazel Irvine and Sir Chris Hoy for the special event.

This time around, it’s the likes of Claire Balding, Hazel Irvine and Alex Scott fronting this year’s show.

Meanwhile, on BBC Olympic Breakfast, it’s Dan Walker and Sam Quek’s turn to update viewers on what’s been happening overnight and in the early hours of the morning.

She continued: “You’re sitting by the side of a pool. You’re not looking at yourself.

“I had no shoes on. Of course, I didn’t think my whole body was on show. I would have put shoes on, at least!

“My brother texted me: ‘Why is Dad on TV?’ And there he was. My dad on This Morning, defending my shorts.”

Could this have been the reason why Skelton hasn’t returned for this year’s Olympics?
