In the jaw-dropping season finale, three members of the Dutton family including John were all knocking at death’s door.
His son Kayce was attacked by armed gunmen at his office during the day. John had just agreed to sell the ranch and on his way back he stopped to help a mother and her son who had pulled over with a broken-down car.
When he stepped out to look at the vehicle, a van pulled up next to them asking if he was John and, when he confirmed his identity, a gunman burst out the back shooting.
His daughter Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) was packing up her office when she received a mystery parcel and, before she could say anything, her assistant opened it as a huge bomb went off.
