The fraudsters offered falsified jabs under the guise of medical professionals and vaccinated employees from their work premises after companies paid them a fee.
Dr Warren Naamara, Uganda’s director of State House Health Monitoring Unit, told Daily Monitor that the suspected fraudsters, including a doctor who is currently on the run, duped several people and injected them with water instead of Covid vaccines.
Two nurses have also been arrested over allegations of vaccinating people using the fake vaccine and they were remanded to Kitalya Prison.
The revelation was made after samples were taken from the suspected fake vaccines and sent for analysis along with genuine jabs to compare.

The results confirmed that the vials contained mostly water, were not supplied in Uganda and the product label details were fabricated.
Doctors have assured the people who received the fake vaccine, administered between May 15 and June 17, that they have not been poisoned and are not in danger.
“All persons and cooperate companies who were vaccinated at a fee, especially within the premises of work by the suspect still at large are advised to get a free Covid jab at the Ministry of Health approved vaccination centres.”
According to World Health Organisation (WHO), more than one million vaccine doses have been administered in Uganda to date.
