On July 3rd Raisman put out a plea on Twitter asking for her followers to keep an eye out for Mylo.

‘My dog Mylo was terrified of fireworks and ran off,’ she tweeted. ‘He has a tag on and a leash. Please let me know if you see him.’

She asked people not to call his name or chase him but to contact her mother via email at [email protected]

‘I was told that scared dogs will make bad decisions if they are pressured, and that is the last thing that we want to have happen,’ she said in another tweet on July 4.

She also posted pictures of Mylo, a brown dog weighing about 35 pounds with a white stripe on his face and blue eyes.

More pets go missing around July 4 than at any other time of the year, according to the ASPCA, which says July 5 is the busiest day for people bringing stray animals to US pet shelters. The organization estimates that there is a 30 percent uptick in lost pets around July 4 every year.

‘Thank you for the help & support,’ she wrote on Twitter.
