Falklands fury: 'Call it by its RIGHT name' Argentina demands islands returned from UK

Last week Buenos Aires took its claim over the Falkland Islands to the UN Decolonisation Committee. Now, Argentine Defence Minister Agustin Rossi has declared: “Malvinas are an inalienable goal.” He said that there is “an inalienable objective of the national government” in recognising the geopolitical importance of the Falkland Islands.

“Last week our foreign minister and the secretary for Malvinas Affairs were in the UN Decolonisation Committee and there was not a single voice in favour of Great Britain regarding the Malvinas.”

The Argentine Minister of Defence then highlighted the contribution of the nation’s armed forces during the pandemic.

The nation’s military performed more than 40 thousand tasks to alleviate problems in the country since the pandemic began.

Mr Rossi said: “It involved the mobilisation of personnel and means.

“There are between 70 and 100 daily tasks throughout the country.

“These tasks involve distributing hot food to doing swabs, vaccinating and deploying field hospitals.”

Mr Rossi then went on to highlight the human and professional resources of the nation’s armed forces.

He said: “To advance you need to have pilots with the necessary level of training.

“You need to have a day of joy because there are young lieutenants and first lieutenants who received this training.

“Some will stay here and others will be assigned to other transport brigades such as ParanĂ¡ or El Palomar.”
